A Doha Christmas

Christmas was low-key here but nice. We decorated our hotel room and brought ourselves a couple of gifts 😉 I got Harry Potter 4 “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and another book “The Hours”. Jeff got speakers for the laptop. On Christmas day, we woke up late, ordered pizza and then went out with a friend of ours “Addasi” to an English pub called “Rydges”.

I called my parents and my sister Briggite and spoke with Jesscia and Amy, they are the cutest thing ever 🙂 We also tried to call Larry and Ledhu, my new parents 🙂 but they were not home. We left a message and are gonna try again tonight.

The day is going smoothly, no major news except for an earthquake in Iran. I’m following up the story. We are thinking of going to watch Matrix Revolution this evening. I have to get a nap after work I didn’t get to sleep well last night!! My body clock is still out of wack!

Feeling jolly

So it’s chrsitmas eve and things so far have been going very well. Although we are living in Qatar, a conservative Muslim country, I can still feel Christmas.

My colleagues at work just got me a gift! Swiss choclates, very nice of them really … considering the fact that I am the only Christian in the office. Very considerate and sweet. I was also paid today, which is really great!

Jeff and I are planning to go Christmas shopping after work and then head out to a nice dinner at the Marriot hotel. I’m excited!

Speaking of gifts, my stateside relations sent money, Larry and LeDhu and Aunt K wired us some money yesterday as a Christmas gift. That was very sweet and thoughtful.

My shift ends in a hour and I’m planning to head directly from work to the nearest ATM machine 😉

The good, the bad and the really ugly

Well, the real state agent turned out to be crap, as he didn’t show up! Anyway! Some office excitment happened this morning, including some good and bad news. The good news is that it seems I passed probabtion but I’m still waiting for the official letter!

The bad news is it seems like they will shaft me on th issue of food allowance which amounts to 3000 QR ($822)

I went with a colleague of mine to the manager’s office and complained and he asked us to write a statement of our complaint so we did. Now, the only thing to do is just to wait and see.

Jeff passed by the office during my lunch break, which was nice. We had lunch along with a friend of ours 3addasi at Hardees 😉

I’m almost done with the shift and can’t wait to go back home for a nap then of course movies 😉

Apartment search

I’m back to the normal shift after two days off. This shift starts at 7:00 am and ends at 4:30 PM. Still though, my body clock is all out of wack. I couldn’t sleep last night for more than two hours so my concentration level is challenged at the moment. I’m actually dreading this day, as I will be working with a very rude and abnoxious editor. We really don’t get along and he even bad-mouthed me in public last week. Anyway, I will try to keep my distance and stay cool because usually hell breaks loose when I lose my temper 😉

The weekend was pretty relaxing, lots of sleeping, eating and of course movies. We watched Kate and Leopod and Swordfish. Kate and Leopod is a bit cheesy but not your typical cheese, it’s uinque cheese and lots of fun. Highly recommend for females.

We also went to a real state agency called Al Asmakh and infomed them of our interst to find a two-room furnished apartment. The agent is taking us today at 2:30PM to see two places. I hope my horrible editor will not object if I leave for an hour. I mean I’m entitled to a one-hour lunch break, but you know, he sometimes can be a pain.
