Blogger grounded by her airline

A US airline attendant is fighting for her job after she was suspended over postings on her blog, or online diary.

Queen of the Sky, otherwise known as Ellen Simonetti, evolved into an anonymous semi-fictional account of life in the sky.

But after she posted pictures of herself in uniform, Delta Airlines suspended her indefinitely without pay. Ms Simonetti was told her suspension was a result of “inappropriate” images. Delta Airlines declined to comment.

Fascinating no?

I personally think bloggers should refrain from writing anything relating to their jobs. Besides the fact that such behaviour is not professional, it can really get you into trouble. And seriously, why would you blog about your work in the first place? Are not blogs supposed to be some sort of an escape from our daily routine.

Newswire to be launched soon

My creative husband decided to turn my obession with reading news articles into a new blog entitled Newswire. We are still experimenting with it but hopefully will launch it soon. It is basically a place where I dump my daily dose of news reading. I have to confess, it is a great idea from my supportive, talented spouse!

Here is a sneak preview. Feedback will be highly appreciated.

The power of blogging

Since I was introduced to blogs last year, I got hooked. Each day I spend hours blogging, reading blogs and blogging about blogs. Overall, I’m very impressed with this revolutionary medium. However, the best reward of blogging by far has been connecting with old friends with whom I lost touch over the years.

Last week, I got an e-mail from a good friend of mine, Thomas, who I met a decade ago at the National Music Conservatory. Both of us used to play second violin with the symphonic orchestra of the conservatory. If I remember correctly, Thomas was the one who introduced me to Milan Kundera, as he was infatuated with The Unbearable Lightness of Being. I read the book upon his recommendation and became an ardent Kundera fan.

Just last week, while Thomas was browsing online he came across my blog and dropped me a note. It was a great a surprise since I haven’t heard from him in years. I was glad to know that he is doing really well, living in Canda, enjoying his job and still making music.

A similar occurrence happened yesterday when an old friend of mine, Rama, stumbled across my blog by chance and left a comment on one of the entries.

Rama and I worked together at Arabia online between 1999 and 2001. From her note I found out she is currently married and living with her husband in Saudi Arabia. Now I have her E-mail address so we’ll definitely keep in touch.

Aren’t blogs just great?!?!?

The silence is broken

After an extended absence, the husband is back to blogging. Take a look at his latest scribbles.

On a different note, I have been experimenting with an online vote. If you have a time to spare and feel like taking part in an unscientific poll, then please do so.

The query: If you were a US citizen, who would you vote for? For those who are US citizens, please feel free to participate.
